From member Diana Christopulos:
As you may have noticed, air quality is poor today in the Roanoke region – and in the entire state of Virginia – due to particle pollution.
May is Asthma Awareness month, and as it happens Gene Marrano just did a story this morning on asthma awareness and air quality. You can hear a 1-minute clip here: http://wfirnews.com/local-news/may-as-asthma-awareness-month
The main sources of this pollution are coal-fired power plants and internal combustion engines – especially diesel engines that are older and have not been retrofitted to take advantage of the ultra low sulfur diesel fuel.
